[Wednesday afternoon, Damian reels Percy in for a little private chat. Manboy to manboy.] Has the Sheriff talked to you at all privately?

Has anyone said anything to you about the Sheriff talking to them in private? [Straight to the point.]

So let's say you find this person you need to kill. Sheriff's going to give you the chance to control the timeline and ending we get, but if they kill you first we're stuck in some kind of weird loop? [This is so stupid, alien bullshit is outside of his realm.]

Annabeth and I are definitely from the same timeline. She was with me right before we got here, too.

We exist, currently, outside of any of our universes. [At least Damian agrees with alien bullshit being stupid. LOOKING AT YOU, SUPERS.] I assume we're in a pocket of time decorated specifically for this game's purpose since when I questioned him about morality, he claimed morality didn't exist in a place with no morality at all.

We could be on a ship, but it's unlikely. If we are, we're here through virtual reality modifications. We won't know unless we test the boundaries of the setting.

But there could be fatal ramifications for that kind of experimentation. I planned to start small: the mines. I don't think the warnings of solely for just our health.

[hydrokinetics]

Could explain exactly why our powers aren't working either. If we're outside of our own territory it's entirely possible. [It's the reverse at home for some people, but he's familiar enough with the concept.]

I really don't think we're on a ship. Virtual reality? It's possible since our Sheriff's a robot. But if we're in a place morality doesn't exist maybe mortality doesn't either. [He folds his arms over his chest.] I still don't know if I like the idea of you doing this by yourself, but like I said, I know I can't stop you. If the warnings aren't for health...what, you think that's the exit of this time pocket, maybe?

[Damian opens his mouth, but surprisingly shuts it to let Percy finish.]

Not necessarily. It's possible, but it could just be a control hub. [Frowning, he's quiet for a minute or so.] Mortality doesn't exist. The dead aren't permanently dead. [He thinks about Jason, about himself. He doesn't like it.] But I can't know if it's a ploy. And that doesn't make murdering others the right way.

[hydrokinetics]

[Huh. He's learning. What a good Robin.]

It doesn't. So what are you going to do when it comes down to finding that person and choosing what you need to do to them? [He can only assume this is all why Damian asked him.]

[bittybat]

[Damian's lips twist sourly. That's the entire damn problem.]

I'm going to stop this idiotic game before it gets to that point.

[hydrokinetics]

[A pause.]

How much do you trust me right now?

[bittybat]

Not much. [He pauses, too, then adds:] But more than most of the others.

[hydrokinetics]

Fair enough. [A shrug.] Trust me enough to let me help you figure this out. If you find this person, we'll figure out a plan to prevent the murder. Does that sound fair?

[bittybat]

[For a surprisingly long time, he doesn't answer, but his eyes flick back and forth over Percy's face under the mask.]

And if you find them first?

[hydrokinetics]

I'm not going to kill them if that's what you're asking me.

[bittybat]

Good. If you do, I will find you.

[hydrokinetics]

I can tell you this. I've never murdered a person, okay? So...relax. Just a little.

[bittybat]

There's a first time for everything.

[SORRY, HE CAN'T, PERCY.]

[hydrokinetics]

You know the same applies to you, right? If we're going by that you're just as likely to kill someone as me.

[bittybat]

More than likely because I have killed before. [Just so Percy understands that he understands.] But my father is one of the greatest men I have ever met, and if he can always reach his goal without murdering, so will I.

[hydrokinetics]

Promise me that then. You find whoever it is, you talk to somebody if you don't have a plan in place so we can avoid killing them.

[bittybat]

I don't make promises. [Because he knows they're so easily broken, especially on accident.] But.. I can give you my word.

On Pennyworth's life and honor.

[hydrokinetics]

[A smart boy. Promises are hard, but he can't help when he smiles at that.]

Well if it's on Pennyworth's life and honor, I have to take it seriously. [A pause.] Thank you, Robin. I'll see how I can help in the meantime without making it obvious.

[bittybat]

[Damian nods in acknowledgement. There's a pause. He wants to say, "Be careful," but those words are almost foreign.

Instead:] Don't do anything stupid.

[hydrokinetics]

Now you're just starting to sound like her. [Annabeth tells him the same thing pretty much on the regular.] Take it easy.

[And with that, he'll take his leave.]
